Adashe Music

Adashe (Steven Hedrick) is an American singer, songwriter, emerging producer, and recording artist based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Like many great vocalists, his musical journey began in the church choir at an early age, where he developed a love for singing and performing.

While attending Park University, Adashe joined forces with several classmates to form the band Full House, serving as the group's lead vocalist. The band performed an energetic mix of funk, R&B, and jazz, drawing inspiration from legendary artists such as Average White Band, Earth, Wind & Fire, Commodores, War, while also performing jazz standards.

During this period, Adashe had the opportunity to meet and spend time with acclaimed vocalist Oleta Adams, who was performing at the Crown Center Hotel in Kansas City. Through conversations about vocal technique and the dedication required to build a lasting career, Oleta shared her experience studying at the Juilliard School. Inspired to strengthen his own technical foundation, Adashe enrolled in the Conservatory at the University of Missouri–Kansas City Conservatory to study classical voice. The training provided him with the vocal discipline and versatility that continue to define his performances today.

Adashe's career has taken him to audiences both in the United States and abroad. He performed with New Artists Productions in Ireland and London, appearing in acclaimed theatrical concert productions including "Aretha," a tribute to Aretha Franklin; the blues production "The Blues Don't Make Me Cry"; and "Get Ready," a musical tribute celebrating the music of The Temptations. These productions showcased his ability to move effortlessly between soul, blues, R&B, and theatrical performance while earning enthusiastic responses from international audiences.

Earlier in his career, Adashe portrayed a leading role in the musical adaptation of Their Eyes Were Watching God, based on the classic novel by Zora Neale Hurston. The musical adaptation was written by acclaimed Indianapolis poet Mari Evans, with music arranged by renowned jazz educator and composer David Baker, longtime head of the Jazz Department at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. The production sold out eight consecutive performances and received outstanding critical acclaim, marking an important milestone in Adashe's performing career.

Adashe also spent several years touring professionally, appearing in casino showrooms including venues in Atlantic City and at Caesars Pocono Resorts in the Pocono Mountains. These experiences further refined his stage presence and ability to entertain diverse audiences.

Today, Adashe is a featured performer at local jazz clubs, private engagements, festivals, and special events throughout the Indianapolis area. He also performs regularly with several big bands, demonstrating remarkable versatility by moving seamlessly from the timeless standards of Frank Sinatra to contemporary R&B. Whether fronting a jazz quartet, singing with a full big band, or presenting his own show, Adashe captivates audiences with warmth, sophistication, and genuine musical expression.

In addition to his live performances, Adashe continues to build his career as a recording artist. He released his debut single, "Then You'll Ever Know," and is currently developing a steady stream of new original music, with plans for regular future releases.
